The Track, Meydan Golf
About
This enjoyable, award-winning 9-hole course offers an unpretentious yet impressive experience
A championship-standard course and four-time pick for the Middle East's Best Nine Hole Golf Course at the World Golf Awards, The Track, Meydan Golf is an enjoyable floodlit design blessed with stunning views of the Burj Khalifa, while a relaxed atmosphere and the absence of a dress code mean it’s a refreshing, yet no less impressive, alternative to the seriousness of some of the more heralded courses in Dubai.
As is typical of Harradine designs, The Track, Meydan Golf delights in its tricky approach shots. While accuracy is the name of the game from the tee, the course makes good use of the six natural lakes on site, forcing you to think your way to the greens, which while generally flat, run very true.
There’s not too much in the way of bunkers, but those that do dot the course are often right where you wish they weren’t, so don’t expect to get through a round without reaching for your sand wedge.
Thanks to the five tee boxes on each hole, cleverly positioned to vary both the angle and the distance of each hole, those playing 18 holes can add a surprising amount of variety by using different tees on the second time around. Floodlights mean you can also play deep into the night, making golf during the hot summer months a welcome option.
Even though the round starts with a monster, a 663-yard par 5 whose long fairway is bordered by water all the way down the left, this isn’t a course where you should just blast away. The fairway narrows as it approaches the long, thin green, so you’re best off laying up.
After a relatively easy par-3 to refresh the palette, the two par 4s that follow both require exciting carries over water on approach. Anything left is liable to find sand on the two holes that follow, the latter an attractive par-3 with a green that opens up from a narrow fringe, making for some exciting pin positions.
The last two holes both feature memorable approaches over water, and it’s hard to resist going for the green on your second shot at the par-5 9th. The sensible move is to take the water out of play by taking a mid-iron to the corner of the fairway, but if you have a ball to spare nobody will blame you for taking on the challenge, even though the best you can realistically hope for is to push your shot right, towards the twin bunkers guarding the approach to the green.
The Facilities
The Track, Meydan Golf offers extensive practice facilities, including driving range, putting green and short-game area, all of which are floodlit. The on-site Meydan Academy by Troon offers a range of tuition with PGA professionals, with packages catering to golfers of all abilities, and there’s also a kiosk with some outdoor seating which is a great place to relax with a drink.
The locker rooms aren’t quite as luxurious as those found on some of the more heralded courses in Dubai, but are more than acceptable, and there’s a boutique pro shop offering everything you might need. In addition to a family-friendly restaurant, on the upper level of the clubhouse you’ll find the Qube sports bar, purveyor of one of the best burgers in Dubai and the best place to grab a post-round beer over a few games of pool.
Summary
If you find the top level courses in Dubai a little pompous, then booking a tee time at The Track, Meydan Golf, which notably lacks a stringent dress code, is right up your street. Although it’s an enjoyably relaxed affair, that doesn’t mean that the golf isn’t of the highest standards, and the level of service you’ll receive is impressive, with friendly and attentive staff looking after you all the way from bag drop to first tee and beyond.
This impeccably maintained floodlit course, which enjoys some unparalleled views of the Burj Khalifa, is one you’ll want to play again and again.

Excellent
Fijne 0ntvangst iedereen erg behulpzaam . Fairway,'s en greenfs in prima condities aan te raden om te spelen (Nice reception everyone very helpful. Fairway's and greens in excellent conditions recommended to play)Amazing, affordable and accessible golf course.
One of the more easier 9 hole golf courses in Dubai. Friendly staff and well maintained fairways and greens. You get to see a lot of wildlife around as well. No toilets on the course so you better go before you tee off. The only thing I would suggest they need to do is to adjust the angle of the flood lights as on some holes they tend to blind you. Overall a nice course for a casual day and night of golfing.Course Info
